General Information
- Lessons commence at 9.20am. There is a ten minute break from 11.15am to 11.25am. Lunch break starts at 12.25pm and ends at 12.55pm.
- Junior and Senior Infants finish at 2pm. All other classes finish at 3pm.
- The Board of Management can not accept responsibility for anyone who enters the school grounds when school is not in operation.
- Formal parent-teacher-pupil meetings are held once a year. Should parents/guardians wish to speak to a teacher, they are welcome to drop into school before lessons begin. Alternatively, parents/guardians may phone the school to arrange a meeting.
- Homework: Parents are encouraged to supervise their children's homework. Homework should be checked and homework journal signed nightly.
- St. Mary's NS has a healthy eating policy whereby children are encouraged to eat healthy food. Fizzy drinks, stimulant drinks, chewing gum and lollipops are prohibited. Sweets/treats are allowed on Fridays.
- Should your child be absent from school, communication with class teacher, and/or principal is mandatory, regarding the absence. Should your child have to leave school early, communication is also required. As required under the Education Welfare Act 2000, absences of more than 20 days are automatically referred to the Education Welfare Officer.
- As a school, we adopt and adhere to the 'Child Protection Guidelines and Procedures' as set out by the Department of Education and Science. The 'Stay Safe' Programme is taught as part of our SPHE curriculum.
- All school curricular and organisational policy documentation is available to view in the principal's office, by appointment.
